DELIVERANCE

Deliverance, from a biblical perspective represents a purging, if you will – a coming through/overcoming/winning the battle with the assistance of God. It is the fulfillment of the reason for Christ’s birth, life and death. Deliverance is freedom – in Christ.

Within the pages of SistahFaith, Poet Shelette Carlisle paints a clear visual of the aforementioned definition. Close examination reveals the canvass of candor that framed the inner vision of this prolific writer. With experience and abandon, applied faith broadened brush strokes that allowed Love to become her guide. Possessed ability inspired expressions of self-worth infused with the expectancy of being valued by others.

Deliverance,in the written form showcases represents what can be partially seen, but only fully realized within the soul, through the option of choice.

About Ms. Carlisle - My name is Shelette Carlisle. I am a 28 year old single mother of two and I’ve written poetry since the eighth grade. It was a way for me to express my emotions because I never truly felt that I had anyone that I could confide in. I wrote “Deliverance” at a point in my life when I was truly finding out about the love and power of God. After living a life full of hurt, pain, suffering and turmoil I didn’t feel safe, loved or any other terms that describes an emotion that could express affection for another. But, God stepped in and changed all of that because I turned it all over to Him and started seeking Him first. God has given me the strength to heal and walk through all the trials set before me. He taught me how to love and respect myself through it all, through the molestation, through the disappointments, through whatever came my way. God even placed people in my life that loved me in a way that I never thought possible. If nothing else, I pray that every individual that hears and reads the Sistahfaith anthology will fully grasp the fact that God can do anything. He can completely heal and deliver from any situation when we seek Him first and turn everything over to Him. He will supply every one of our needs.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people? (Jeremiah 8:22, NIV)

Twenty-five women, including Bunny Debarge, Sharon Ewell Foster, Stanice Anderson, Claudia Mair Burney and Marilynn Griffith, tell their stories of coming full circle from tragedy to triumph. Each contributor keeps it holy, keeping it real in these raw, relevant tales of redemption and restoration. Think of it as Prozac for the Christian Woman’s Soul!

A twelve week study is included for churches and book clubs. Instructions provided on gathering your own SistahFaith circle.

  15. Linda,

Thank you for being one of God's shining vessels, a woman of integrity, and thank you for hosting SistahFaith!

Well done Shelette, Marilynn, and all the other sisters! Let the healing begin!

So much beauty shines from this book and all these women who bravely share the secrets that once shamed them. They show themselves to be everyday women and prove that shame and pain don't know anything about fame, wealth, language, or racial barriers. The joy of it all is that the women also show the way to triumph and prove that showing their scars is part of the triumph--their scars make them beautiful.

The women in SistahFaith show their scars so that another beautiful sistah can get free!

Bravo to you, Linda, Ty, Marilynn, and to all the beautiful courageous women of SistahFaith!

    Sharon

  16. Sharon, it is the scar that bears witness to the healing. I am thankful to the women who boldly placed their scars on display so that others might dare to LOOK UP and live.

    Linda!
